Stash Report 2012 ~ Week 22

I was bad or good this week. I'm not sure - I didn't buy any new fabric, that's right none, so that was GOOD.  But I didn't get any sewing done either, between Dr. appointments for DH (he had glaucoma surgery and is doing fine except his eye hurts) and working, I didn't get to spent any amount of time in the studio, so that was BAD.   Here's hoping the next week is better.

Winner of the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway is . . .

Thank you to everyone who visited my blog for the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway.   WOW!   I had 285 people left comments to win the Moda Layer Cake "Fig & Plum". The majority of  the "next" projects to make were baby quilts, followed by making  bags.

Now, just for some info, because it bothers me, of the 285 entries there were 22 entries that were "No-Reply" Bloggers and two of the confirming emails bounced back to me as bad email addresses.   :-{     I replied to everyone who entered, so if you did not get a message from me then you are a "No-Reply" Blogger and probably don't know it.   Please take just a little time to fix your blogger status - I'd be happy to help you if I can, or include your email address in your comment.

Show 'n Tell ~ May 2012

These are pictures from the Bernina Software Sampler and Embroidery Club that I teach at Bernina Northwest in Seattle.

Donna's Cool Ties
Donna D. and her husband made these "Cool Ties" for their trip to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.  He'll be riding his Harley with his friends and Donna will be driving her Corvette.   She is the entourage!

Pat's One Block Wonder
Back of  One Block Wonder
This is Pat H.'s "One Block Wonder" Quilt.  Pat quilted it on the diagonal with a running stitch.  You will be able to see the quilting better on the back side of the quilt.  The quilt just needs the binding and label to complete it.  Pat will be teaching this class in June.

Kathy's Chloe Quilt
Kathy C. finished her Chloe Quilt.  It is beautiful!   She made it using her 730E.  Kathy had multi-hooping on almost all of her embroidery designs.  She also did the quilting, and embroidered label and the scalloped binding.

Maxine's Wall Hanging
S/W Sampler Fabric Tote
Maxine E. made this White, Black and Red Wall-hanging using embroidery designs built into her 830E.  Turned out great.
She made her Textured Fabric from Software into this wonderful tote bag.

Ukulele Case
Maxine E. made several Ukulele Cases while she and her husband were in Arizona this year.  She used Hawaiian fabrics and the cases turned out great.

Skorts by Maxine

Maxine E, made skorts for a friend that golfs.  The skorts turned out great.

Stash Report 2012 ~ Week 21

The weather was nice and I spent some time outside this week,  so long story short not allot of sewing done.  I ordered this is the fabric for a gift of place-mats.  I think they will embroider with a simple batik fabric in the front center area.  I was thinking a farm/country looking redwork or toile designs would be nice.  Then using the stripe as a bias edge with the daisy's on the back and just folding over to the front.

Antique Parrot Thimble

This is a Vintage Cloisonne Parrot Thimble I received for my birthday.   It was advertised as a rare (???) thimble.  It is beautiful collector type thimble.  It measures about 1 inch tall and 3/4 inch wide.  I like to just look at it.

Design Wall ~ Monday, May 14, 2012

Not much done this week, but this is my sample for the Super Sew Day on May 5th.  Actually, I forgot to take a picture of this cute little wristlet last week, so I'm week late with getting it posted.

The wristlet was fun to make.  It is all done in the embroidery hoop on the B~830.  Imported the sewing stitches for quilting, raw edge applique and initials.

What are you working on?

Stash Report 2012 ~ Week 19

I was bad this week.  I love using Fossil Fern from Benartex and some wonderful person had it on Yahoo's Sew-Its-For-Sale list.  OK - I was so bad, sooo very, very bad.   I bought all that she had left, and it was a great price too.  I looked it up on the Benartex site  and it said this about Fossil Fern  "It's unheard of in textile history---a fabric still hot in demand after 17 years! There are several reasons why Fossil Fern has endured over a decade. The colors mirror all the intricate hues of nature. The prints can be used in any project, time and again. And...the subtly textured fabrics bring light and movement to any design. "  Fossil Fern is still one of my favorite fabrics.

A May Day Project

We made this fun little wristlet made on the 830 embroidery/sewing machine for Bernina's Super Sew Day.  It includes raw edge embroidery, buttonholes, lettering, moving stitches from the sewing side to the embroidery side to create designs all done in the embroidery mode.  It was fun to teach and I hope everyone had a good time.

You could also create this project using your Bernina Embroidery V6 Software.

At the Front Gate

We planted these four flowering cherry trees last year after trying in vain to save the other trees.

I'm so pleased that these trees look like they are doing well.

The White Birches on the other side of the fence are leafing out too.

The rhododendron and the azalea are very beautiful too.

New FO's for April 2012

New FO's  gives me permission to start a new project. There is no pressure to finish it.   I love it.   It lets the creative juices flow.    Last week not much sewing happened but I did get some digitizing done for appliqued quilt blocks.  This applique quilt block is my new FO for April.  These are just the applique and fancy stitches on the appliques of the finished digitized block.

Go on over to Barbara’s blog Cat Patches and see the new April projects that everyone has started.

Stash Report 2012 ~ Week 18

I was good - I didn't purchase any fabric, but I did get a great buy on spools of embroidery thread that were being "Closed Out".  Aren't these bright and pretty colors?  Maybe I should be tracking thread too -  hahaha!   I got very little sewing done during the last week, I would like to have done more sewing, but between teaching 3 days and going to two all day classes this week - it' been crazy busy.  I hope that I haven't overdone it and suffer a set back.
