Stash report 2014 ~ Week #10

Oh my goodness, where have the days  - a um a, weeks gone?   I haven't posted for a few weeks, due to being sick for about a month and not doing much.  3 rounds of antibiotics that took forever get me well again and the Doc had me triple my prednisone. Yes, I'm complaining.  I didn't get to sew, truth be known, I wasn't up to it.  Both hubby and I had a nasty round of sinus infections/flu /bronchitis this past month.  The good news is I'm feeling so much better now.  And I'm going back down now on the prednisone and if I continue to get better I can reduce it more next week.  Yeah.

At last, before all the icky sickly started we ordered the rest of our fabric for the Charm Street Table Runner and Placemats.  It is here and is waiting for us to get a healthy start on the project again.  I think we did something kinda' fun by ordering different color background fabrics for the backing and binding.  The backing, binding and plain strips used in the Charm Street pattern are from the Moda Weave collection.  The fabrics we picked are bright and fun, but don't show up as well in the picture.  The printed fun fabric is from Moda's Family Ties by Deb Strain.

Stash Report 2014 ~ Week #3

Here it is the third week already.  Some sewing done - actually it was mending and it doesn't count.  At least it is done and put away, ready to go.  I haven't purchased the remaining fabric for the "Charm Street Tablerunner" yet but will do so this week.  I'm going with four coordinating colors for the back and bindings.

scarf with beading

Oh and I almost forgot about this new project for the Sew Be It group.   Last week I got my scarf material and beads to make these different scarves.  I found very nice silk and a polyester that was so very silky.  Best part, both were on sale.  The directions say I need half a yard for each scarf.  I want to do one for a present, not sure about the others.  I think they will make up and be beautiful. OK.  OK, I know this is not quilting, but sometimes it is good to do "other" creative projects.

Stash Report 2014 ~ Week #2

Have you ever said to someone who didn't sew/quilt/embroider that admired you project "Oh, it isn't hard to make."    I did - - - I should've known better . . .  My no-sew/quilt friend has always wanted to learn, she has asked me to help and I've always said yes . . . but we never have gotten together.  I thought this would be a good beginners project for her, and it was something she expressed interest in.  Well, did you guess?  I'm making it, and the project is growing in size.  I'm going to keep part of for myself and give it as a gift to her because that is where the growing is going on.  So this week I bought and ordered some more charm squares.  Not everything is here but I'll count it anyway as next week I will make a decision on the backing and binding and how much to buy.  I'm counting the each of the 5"Charm Square packs as 2/3 yards.   In a 42 piece package there is more yardage there than you might think!  Since I have to wait for part of the fabric to arrive I couldn't do anymore sewing on this project.

Stash Report 2014 ~ Week #1

I was a good girl this week, didn't buy any fabrics.   Thank goodness the week was short.  I'm debating if I should buy more charm packs to make everything I wanted.  I would like to have four placemats but I think I'm going to only have enough for two placemats with the table-runner and if I buy more two more charms packs I will have enough for six placemat with the table-runner.  So what's a girl to do?  It is fast project to make, so that is big plus and I've got the first pairing sewn of the charms done.  I left them at the store where I work for something to sew on, but I think I will have to bring them home and get going with this project while I'm still excited about it.

New FO's for December

This is my FO for December.  It is a very scrappy looking table-runner and placemats.  I love the pattern "Charm Street Table-Runner" from Prairie Point Junction.  It is a free pattern that you can download from their website:   www.prairiepointjunction.com

I've started this project, but I want to have four placemats and the table-runner.  I think I have only enough to make two placemats and the table-runner.  If I buy two more of these charm packs I think I could make six placemats and the table-runner.  Hmmmm.  Can't decide what to do.

Have some more fun by popping over to Barbara's Cat Patches and see what every else is up to.

Quilt Guild Night

The first Thursday is our Quilt Guild meeting.  This month the meeting was Quilt College with guild members teaching a technique that could be used in basic quilting or art quilting.  At each Demo table there handouts with instructions and in some cases a chance to make and take a sample. There were demos on how to do paper piecing, using Texture Magic, binding with mitered corners,  Ice Dying Fabric (looks like so much fun but Safety First when making the dyes up - it's just not for me) and Sharpie Pen/Alcohol fabric dying (this one I could do outdoors).  I made this little fabric at the demo station, it was fun.  So simple, it took me way back.  Here is Martha Stewart video clip you might like:   http://www.marthastewart.com/893105/sharpie-tie-dye-t-shirts

Good Bye 2013

Sigh.  Should be a Very Big Sigh.  I didn't post in 2013.  At the start of the year I was happy with what I had learned here blogging.  And I then I got sick and it take me now a long time to get over minor colds and other things.  But later in the year I kept thinking I would like to start blogging again.  Little things held me back.  I don't have time to post everyday, so I won't try.  I will try to stay on the healthy side, get out more, exercise more and work with Tucker more this year.  I want to spend more time in the sewing studio.  Yippee!  I have a new Bernina 880 sewing/embroidery machine to start the new year with.  And the new Bernina Embroidery Software 7, too!  So there you have it.  I'm getting ready to start a new year,   No resolutions, just keep at it every day.  What are your plans for 2014?

May your New Year be filled with much happiness
 and many blessings.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days o' auld lang syne.

And for auld lang syne, my jo,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne,
