New FO's for December

This is my FO for December.  It is a very scrappy looking table-runner and placemats.  I love the pattern "Charm Street Table-Runner" from Prairie Point Junction.  It is a free pattern that you can download from their website:   www.prairiepointjunction.com

 

 

I've started this project, but I want to have four placemats and the table-runner.  I think I have only enough to make two placemats and the table-runner.  If I buy two more of these charm packs I think I could make six placemats and the table-runner.  Hmmmm.  Can't decide what to do.

Joining 2013 NewFO Challenge



I'm thinking ahead to next year.   I'm going to join in the 2013 NewFO Challenge.  Now mind you I didn't actually finish any of the projects I started or planned to start in 2012 so I hope to work on those too.  I'm making a pledge that I will try to finish some of them too, well at least one of them.  I have only a few that I know I would like to start for sure and the others to be announced as they tickle my fancy or actually get around to them.  Here are a couple but not listed in any particular order, in an effort to keep me enthusiastic and not to pin myself done.

New FO's for August 2012

For August I went to Idaho to take a advanced class with Claudia  Dinnell, "Digitizing Large Redwork Style Designs for Multi-Hooping".   Oops!   As it turns out this is really a two day class she was presenting in one day, thinking more toward beginning and intermediate digitizers.  But we did spend some time with the advanced part of the class, enough to make me smile.  I had homework that would normally been finished in the second day of class and I'm OK with that.  I'm almost done with the digitizing,  now I want to find another image(s) to add to the wall hanging.  If I don't find something I'll just add more swirls I think.  What do you think?

New FO's for April 2012

New FO's  gives me permission to start a new project. There is no pressure to finish it.   I love it.   It lets the creative juices flow.    Last week not much sewing happened but I did get some digitizing done for appliqued quilt blocks.  This applique quilt block is my new FO for April.  These are just the applique and fancy stitches on the appliques of the finished digitized block.

New FO's for March 2012

New FO's is it gives me permission to start a new project. There is no pressure to finish it. I love it. It lets the creative juices flow.

 It wasn't until March that I actually got started on the Holly Jolly Quilt for Christmas.  Since the first block I've decided not to do this as a multi-color  work, but as a red-work only.  This means that I have to re-embroider this multi-color block as a red-work block.

Things have been slow going around here this month - heavy allergies and a cold have left me getting only a few things done this month.  Ah - gee sometimes I have to kick back for a bit.

New FO's for February 2012

A New FO's Challenge  gives me permission to start a new project. There is no pressure to finish it. I love it. It lets the creative juices flow.  This is my project for February, started at Sew Expo in the Libby Lehman class the Pinatita Quilt.  I did buy the finishing kit so I could make the little larger Pinata Quilt.   It uses the circular tool to decorate the block with decorative or embroidery stitches from you sewing machine.  Most of us have a many decorative stitches we never use and this was a wonderful chance to play with different stitches, change the stitches or make stitch combinations.  I used 40 wt. embroidery thread and had fun making these applique blocks.

New FO's for January 2012

This month I've been doing a little sewing on this and that.  I had big ideas to get farther on with the Chloe quilt - that didn't happen.   Other things pulled me this was and that, as I tried out some new techniques and made some test samples for myself .  The best thing about this the New FO's is it gives me permission to start a new project.  There is no pressure to finish it.  I love it.  It lets the creative juices flow.  So when I found out I would be teaching the Magic In the Air wall-hanging starting in February I was very pleased.  Oh Boy! This is something I wanted to make.  Found almost all of my fabric in my stash.  Hmmm - that's good.  Then, we found that the design collection is now on back order, so we will be making this later in the year.  This cute wall-hanging didn't even get off of the cutting table.  Sometimes the best laid plans don't work out.  We have a cute new wall hanging project and I'll post more about it in February.

2012 NewFO's Challenge

Oh boy, this should be fun!   I love the planning of new projects.  Choosing pattern or following ideas.   Being inspired and the excitement of a new project.  Picking out colors, fabrics and threads.  The first part of being creative, dreaming of your project.  And, sometimes changing your mind.

The best part of this challenge is we don't have to finish any projects in the month or year they were started in, but that will be my goal.  Now I may change my mind about what project(s) I'll start.  Many will be smaller quilts like wall-hangings, table-runners and some quilted bags.  There will be some larger quilts too.
