Still Snowing

It's hard to predict the weather here in the Pacific Northwest.  We are guarded by the Olympic Mountains to the west and the Cascades Mountains to the east.  Sometimes storm systems get stalled out in the Pacific Ocean and don't come in as fast as predicted, or veer to the north or south of us.  Anyway the warming trend we were expecting isn't quite here today, maybe later tonight or tomorrow.  The snow is still coming down here, but in some areas it has changed to rain or ice.   Last day for the snow - - - don't know, just so we don't loose our power.

Weather Vanes

Derin put up the weather vanes we bought in Bozeman, MT at an antique shop.  I'd say they are more like faux antiques, new made to look old, but they were what we were looking for.  At last he has installed them on the cupolas.  On the barn cupola there is the running horse and on the garage cupola is the eagle.  Derin had painted a quilt block with bright colors for the barn a year ago.  His moose antlers are hanging above the barn doors.

First Frost - Autumn Pictures

Bobby
With the first frost I always feel like Fall is really here.  When we woke this morning everything was frosty.  Not a heavy frost, just sorta frosty.  And it felt so cold.  Just freeeezing!   Time to get those last few apples off the trees.

Down to the barn

It was a nice evening.  I grabbed my camera to take pictures of the dogs.  I think they know when I have the camera in my hands.  I shot about 30+ shots with blurry movements - now why can't they stay still for just a moment for me?  Maybe it is me not holding steady, wait you mean I should stand still to take their pictures.  I did get two pictures, not really very good, but I deleted the rest.

Dixie, Derin and Bobby in the background.   I cut off Derin's head - sorry honey, I'm still learning (that's my excuse and sticking with it.  Bobby on the right.

Pear tree on the left is just about ready to be picked,   The apple tree is almost ready too.

Look.  It's Tucker.  He's my big pretty boy.  He doesn't mind as much about having his picture taken.  Already in early October he is starting to "hair-up"  for the winter.  He'll be a fuzzy guy soon.

Behind Tucker you can see our neighbors house.

And we're home . . .

I think  that the more time that passes the harder it is to get back to posting blogs.  We were gone in July to Texas.  That is Hot, Hot Texas!   It was a great trip – We drove  (thank goodness for AC)  through the Texas Hill Country, very beautiful, to San Antonio.  San Antonio is fun city with the River Walk, the Alamo – so much smaller than I would have ever thought, the  historic downtown San Antonio.    BU was fun, I met some new people for the first time that I have wrote to on the lists I belong to.  I would love to go back to San Antonio sometime.  I returned home feeling better.

And how hard is to get pictures of your pups?  Hard, for me very hard, they duck when the camera comes out.  Snapped this one of Dixie.  She's my old girl now 10 years old.  Dixie doesn't act old, once in a while in the cold, wet weather she'll get a little gimp but works the stiffness out with a little exercise and I have some meds for her also.  She has allot of white, silver and gray hair on her muzzle now.  Truly an "Old Dog's Face".   Now to keep working on getting a photo of Bobby and Tucker.

This is Bobby

This is Bobby, our 2 1/2 year old German Shorthair Pointer.   He is still allot of puppy, crawling into the chairs for some October sun - almost a Indian Summer day.   We adopted him through the GSP Rescue last year.   We have been adopting our dogs through the various rescue groups for the 25 years - I hope you will look into getting your next pet through adoption too.
